August 2005
Having taken some time off to play music with friends like Steve Miller, Delbert McClinton, Joe Satriani, Al Anderson and a whole host of other heavyweights, Scott Mathews has returned to TikiTown to mix The Mooncrickets for Monkey Wings Records.
Scott will travel to New Zealand to produce new artist Kerry Wedlock on August 7th. With the buzz already building in New Zealand, there is great anticipation for this project, given the fact that Scott produced Roy Orbison and Kerry is constantly referred to as 'The New Orbison.'
The Rock and Roll Soldiers are currently on tour in support of their new CD with songs produced by Scott Mathews. The reaction to both the CD and the shows has been tremendous, so much that Verizon Wireless just licensed a song off the CD for a huge ad campaign. So much for the bad boy reputation the band has been working on!
Asking Scott Mathews his feelings on the matter, he replied; "It used to be the epitome of selling out to have your music associated with a jingle. With it being so difficult to find a fan base these days, I think feelings have changed. The fact is, if it brings more exposure to the band and they don't mind the company that is using their material, let people hear it. It's the next best thing to being played on the radio and let's face it, the money is obscenely good for 10 seconds of music."
