The news hits that Hit or Myth artist JERAD FINCK won the prestigious VH1 SONG OF THE YEAR, 2006 in the Rock category for his song, Goodbye. Congrats, Jerad, you so rock! We always knew it; now everybody does!!

As usual, TikiTown boards up and unplugs for this month. It’s sort of a holdover from Scott Mathews' school days when summer vacation meant freedom to travel and bust out. OUTVILE went home to the Ukraine, Tom Luekens escaped to the Marlborough Music Festival in Vermont, and Scott went all over the place making music with Jimmy Buffet, Mickey Hart, the original SANTANA band, Dan Hicks, Sal Valentino and other legendary fun folks.

However, not all of July was fun. The world lost Thomas R. Mathews (Scott’s beloved father) on July 16th. He passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, at age 86. Fondly remembered as the strong but gentle leader of the family, his contribution to all of the lives he touched is beyond measure. His final words to Scott were “You sure have been a lot of fun.”
