May began with a speaking engagement in Portland, OR for the West Coast Songwriters Association. Scott spoke about his songwriting and met many emerging artists and writers. He came away from the experience feeling that besides it being a natural beauty, Portland has an amazing talent pool and a very supportive and creative community.
Ron Nagle was back in for more writing and recording with Scott. The music they made will be included in a Ron Nagle retrospective art/music book. It will be published and made available in early 2010.
Scott was a guest speaker at the SanFran Music / Tech conference held in the middle of the month at the Kabuki Hotel. These are fantastic events that showcase the newest ideas and brightest minds from the Silicon Valley, TikiTown, and all points beyond. Forward thinking people gather to enjoy interesting panels and the opportunity to meet each other.
Scott ended the month in full fashion by putting together a show at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall to celebrate Joel Selvin’s retirement from the San Francisco Chronicle. Joel has been the Senior Music Critic for most of his 35 years at the Chron. The band Scott assembled and served as Musical Director for included such heavy hitters as Chris Issak, Bonnie Raitt, Booker T. Jones, Big Al Anderson, Charlie Musselwhite, Prairie Prince and Al Jardine. Not a bad line-up for a magical one off!
