March 2008

Near the beginning of 2008, ManaSonic Music finished construction on a smashing new office building in order to base its operations in Mill Valley near TikiTown. Now that office is occupied by an amazing team mate, the new Managing Director, Ms. Kasey Colvin. Born and raised in Mill Valley, Kasey spent her past four years in Los Angeles. She left her post at the Endeavour Agency (the agency that the HBO show 'Entourage' is based on) and moved back to the Bay Area to help operations at ManaSonic. Coming from working with some of the biggest names in show biz, she's seen it all and knows how to deal with it so be careful. Her contributions at ManaSonic are already enormous. Kasey can be reached at; Kasey@ManaSonic.com

March means South by Southwest (or SXSW), the largest and craziest music conference in the world held every year in Austin TX. This event is a 'must attend' for anyone that loves music, the ever changing music business, networking and just plain fun and/or copious amounts of adult beverages. Close to 2,000 bands from all over the world play during the course of four days and nights and if you don't find a band that you love, there is always the BBQ and said bevies.

This year ManaSonic attended the conference with their web developers from New York, True North Inc. There are always many industry friends, colleagues and crooks that Scott looks forward to seeing at SXSW but this year there were more introductions to new people, mostly made by Jon Blaufarb and David Kostiner, the fine ManaSonic legal team. The new company is going into business to help change the system of how artist's careers are handled and many very interesting and passionate people were met at SXSW. This year it was very apparent that the major labels no longer participate (perhaps they are not asked to) and the subject of change was on everyone's collective mind. Seems all the great talent (those on stage and off) that was once affiliated with the majors is finding its way by building their own companies to carry on in a better tradition. These are our people!
